International Day of Families
What is the International Day of Families?
The International Day of Families was established in 1993 by the United Nations and is observed globally on May 15th as a way to raise awareness on the different kinds of struggles that may impact the basic family structure anywhere in the world. In order to ensure that no stone is left unturned, a different family-focused theme is chosen every year based around education, poverty, and work/family balance. The theme this year is: Families and New Technologies.
The UN uses the International Day of Families to highlight important issues that may affect the family structure in the near future, and to address different social, economical or demographic factors currently impacting it.
